Ken’s Wine Guide: 2018 Post & Vine Red Blends or Varietals “Old Vine Field Blend”

Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Field Blend from Post & Vine opens with a stone dust and maraschino cherry bouquet with subtle hints of red licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouth feel is round and quite juicy. The flavor profile is a crushed stone minerality and blackberry blend with notes of juicy black plum and black raspberry. I also detected hints of black tea, craisin, and nutmeg. The finish is dry, and its moderate dusty tannins build up and stick around for a very long time. This wine is very structured and sturdy in its youth. As a result, it would benefit from some aeration. So, I would decant it in the near term and serve it with a ribeye steak or with a messy rack of ribs.
